Dr. Neville Anderson grew up in the Windsor Square area.   She attended St. James’ Episcopal School (where in 5th grade she decided she wanted to be a pediatrician) and Marlborough School.  While at Marlborough, she volunteered at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.  After 10th grade, she left Marlborough to go to boarding school for 11th and 12th grade at Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut.   She received a B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University.  After graduating from college, she was a teacher at Stanford’s Bing Nursery School where she gained extensive experience in child development.   She then left California to go to medical school at the University of Rochester in upstate New York.  She quickly returned to sunny Southern California to do her internship and residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.  There she won the Victor E. Stork Award for Continued Excellence and Future Promise in the Care of Children.  After finishing her residency, she was a beloved pediatrician at Descanso Pediatrics in La Canada-Flintridge.   She was named a Top Doctor in Pasadena magazine in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.  She also was named a Top Rising Super Doctor in Los Angeles magazine in 2013, 2014, and 2015.  After 7 years practicing in La Canada, she decided in 2014 to open her own practice on Larchmont Blvd in her “hometown” in the middle of Los Angeles.  Dr. Anderson is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is a board member of the Los Angeles Pediatric Society.  In her free time, she likes to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoys cooking, hiking, going to the beach, reading, playing tennis and “taking advantage of all the cultural activities in Los Angeles.”  Each December, she co-chairs her church’s Project Angel Tree program which purchases gifts for children who have a parent in prison.  Dr. Anderson is excited to be your child’s pediatrician!

Dr. Anderson is featured in the Larchmont Chronicle in their March 2014 issue and in the Larchmont Buzz.

Dr Alexandra McCollum

Dr. Alexandra Dawn McCollum has recently joined Larchmont Pediatrics.  ‘Dr. Alex’ was born and raised in Chico, California.   She completed her undergraduate training at UC Santa Barbara and graduated from St. George’s University, School of Medicine in 2005.  She then completed her pediatric residency training at Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center, in New York and later went onto complete a one year post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Rady Children’s hospital in San Diego. Dr. Alex was most recently practicing at Heights Pediatrics and New York Methodist Hospital while living right in the heart of Park Slope, Brooklyn with her husband and two little boys.   Hoping to one day relocate back to sunny California, Dr. Alex’s prayers were finally answered when her husband took a job in the pediatric emergency department at Children’s Los Angeles.  Her life long dream of joining a small practice in California has finally been realized at Larchmont Pediatrics.  Dr. Alex practices general pediatrics and has a special interest and expertise in pediatric dermatology.  In her free time she enjoys taking advantage of living in Los Angeles, going to the beach, swimming with her boys, cooking and travelling to visit family.

Dr McCollum is featured in the Larchmont Chronicle in their November 2015 issue.

Valerie Jespersen-Wheat, ILCBC (Lactation Consultant)

Valerie Jespersen-Wheat, IBCLC is the newest person to join Larchmont Pediatrics.  Valerie was born in Honolulu, Hawaii but spent most of her childhood growing up in Southern California.  She earned her undergraduate degree in Developmental Psychology at UC Santa Barbara, then moved to the east coast to earn her Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy at Boston University.  She worked for a number of years as an occupational therapist, treating school-aged children with learning disorders.  After taking time off for the birth of her first daughter, she decided it was time for a career change.  She enrolled in the UCLA Lactation Consultant training program and began her career as a board certified Lactation Consultant.  Her experiences as a first-time mom made her realize that breastfeeding a baby can be a challenge and that women need expert support in reaching their goals.  She became an expert in breastfeeding hoping to help other moms and babies be successful.  After a number of years working as a community-based Lactation Consultant, Valerie moved to Cedars-Sinai to serve as the Program Coordinator for Lactation Services in the NICU, where she worked for 16 years.  In the NICU, she learned to help very small, premature and sick infants learn to breastfeed.  Moms in the NICU know that they have a very important role in providing breast milk for their baby. It is a critical part of a baby's medical plan and something only their mom can do. By joining Larchmont Pediatrics, Valerie is excited to return to her community roots, helping both NICU graduates and healthy term babies to be successful with breastfeeding. In her free time, Valerie enjoys cooking, gardening, exploring Los Angeles’s countless culinary offerings and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
